Matt Groening

Matthew Abraham Groening born February 15, 1954 is an American cartoonist, writer, producer, animator, and voice actor. He is the creator of the comic strip Life in Hell  and the television series The Simpsons, Futurama and Disenchantment . The Simpsons is the longest-running U.S. primetime-television series in history and the longest-running U.S. animated series and sitcom. The success of “Life in Hell” attracted the attention of a writer and producer named James L. Brooks, who contacted Groening to see if he’d be interested in creating a series of animated shorts to run on the sketch comedy series The Tracey Ullman Show. Groening invented a dysfunctional family whose names he mostly borrowed from his own parents and siblings. not a member of the real Groening family, is an anagram of. The Simpsons family premiered on The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987. Ullman’s show was soon canceled, but the Simpsons were popular enough to earn their own spin-off series, which premiered in 1989. In 1999 Groening launched a new animated series, Futurama, about the adventures of a 20th-century pizza delivery boy who was transported to the year 2999. That show also was infused with Groening’s subversive sensibility, and, although it was canceled by Fox in 2003, robust DVD sales and a successful run in syndication spurred the production of new episodes, which aired on cable in 2010–13. Groening later developed a third animated series, Disenchantment, which premiered on Netflix in 2018. The show followed the escapades of the hard-drinking Princess Bean and her friends, an elf fittingly named Elfo and the demon Luci, in the medieval kingdom Dreamland.Image result for matt groening work
