six types of lighting

  • ambient – ambient light is typically used to control the overall brightness and color of a scene.
  • directional – even illumination of a scene using parallel rays of light.
  • point – light radiated in all directions from one point.
  • spot – reacts a cone of light in one direction.
  • area – 2D regular light source.
  • volume – light fills a 3D shape.

 

Three point lighting

  1. Key light – main source illuminating the object.
  2. secondary light – highlights details of the objects.
  3. Back light – distinguishes the object from background.

 

Attributes of light

  • Intensity.
  • Fall off / decay.
  • Penumbra angle.
  • Drop – off.
  • Colour.

 

Light controls

  • Aim from / Aim at.
  • Fall-off rate.
  • Cone radius.
  • Penumbra / umbra control.
  • Non – linear fall out.
