Animation Techniques & Softwares

forward kinematics : The essential concept of forward kinematic animation is that the positions of particular parts of the model at a specified time are calculated from the position and orientation of the object, together with any information on the joints of an articulated model.

Inverse kinematics : Inverse kinematics is a method of animating that reverses the direction of the chain manipulation. Rather than work from the root of the tree, it works from the leaves.

Texturing : texturing is the process of applying an image to a 3D model. Textures are the flat images that are applied to a model to give it colour and detail rather than them being blank and boring.

Lighting : A basic lighting setup for Stop Motion animation should include at least 2 lamps to light up your scene and reduce or avoid shadows. A Back light – to illuminate the subject from behind. A Background light – to illuminate the background of a shot. A Key light – the main light source illuminating your subject or scene.

Rendering : 3D Character Animation renders may include photorealistic effects or non-photorealistic rendering.Rendering is the final process of creating the actual 2D image or animation from the prepared scene. This can be compared to taking a photo or filming the scene after the setup is finished in real life.

Maya : Autodesk Maya is an industry leading 3D animation software application developed by Autodesk that enables video professionals who work with animated film, television programs, visual effects, and video games to create highly professional 3D cinematic animations.

C4D : Cinema 4D is a 3D modelling, animation, motion graphic and rendering application developed by MAXON Computer GmbH in Germany. It is capable of procedural and polygonal / sub D modelling, animating, lighting, texturing, rendering, and common features found in 3D modelling applications.

After Effects : Adobe After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application developed by Adobe Systems and used in the post-production process of film making and television production. Among other things, After Effects can be used for keying, tracking, compositing, and animation.
